LEGOLAND Florida
About 45 minutes southwest of Orlando in Winter Haven sits the one big park built squarely for little kids: rides scaled to short legs, 32 million bricks of Miniland, a water park next door and a whole Peppa Pig park beside it.

If your crew skews young, LEGOLAND Florida might be the smartest theme-park day on your whole Orlando trip. It sits about 45 minutes southwest of the tourist corridor in Winter Haven, on the grounds of an old botanical garden, and unlike the big resorts up the road it is built from the ground up for kids roughly ages 2 to 12, with the sweet spot landing somewhere around 4 to 8.
That focus is the whole point. The rides are gentle, the lines move, the queues have LEGO bricks to keep antsy hands busy, and there is shade and water when the Central Florida sun turns up. It is an easy, low-stress contrast to a full day at the megaparks, and it pairs naturally with the rest of our things to do with kids in and around town. Here is how we would spend the day.
What to see & do
One ticket covers a surprising amount: a full theme park, a water park and a couple of neighbors built for the same age group.
A perfect day
One unhurried day, built around small legs and the afternoon heat.
- Leave Orlando early and roll into the lot near opening, while the morning is still cool and the rides are quiet.
- Hit the popular coasters and Driving School first, then slow down for Miniland USA and the button-hunting.
- Break for lunch and an air-conditioned lap through SEA LIFE when the afternoon thunderclouds build.
- Spend the hot middle of the day cooling off at the Water Park, or take little ones next door to Peppa Pig.
- Drive back toward town before dinner, and line up tomorrow from our family itineraries.
One day, or overnight?
For most Orlando-based families it is a single day trip. A night on-site only earns its keep in a couple of cases.

Common questions
How far is LEGOLAND Florida from Orlando?
LEGOLAND Florida is in Winter Haven, about 45 minutes to an hour southwest of the main Orlando tourist area. It is an easy drive down I-4 and US-27, roughly 45 to 50 miles, and works well as a single day trip from your Orlando hotel.
What age is LEGOLAND Florida best for?
It is built for kids roughly ages 2 to 12, with the sweet spot around 4 to 8. The rides are gentle and the whole park is hands-on. Toddlers and preschoolers (about 2 to 6) are also well served by the Peppa Pig Theme Park right next door.
What is at LEGOLAND Florida besides the rides?
Beyond the themed lands and coasters, there is Miniland USA (American landmarks built from around 32 million LEGO bricks), the seasonal LEGOLAND Water Park sharing the same parking lot, a SEA LIFE aquarium inside the grounds, and the separate Peppa Pig Theme Park next door.
Is the Peppa Pig park included with LEGOLAND tickets?
No. Peppa Pig Theme Park sits steps from the LEGOLAND entrance but has its own gate and ticket. If you want both in one visit, buy a combo ticket. The Peppa park is aimed squarely at toddlers and preschoolers, so families with very young children get the most out of it.
Should we stay overnight at LEGOLAND or do it as a day trip?
For most Orlando-based families one day at the theme park is plenty, and the short drive makes a round trip easy. An on-site night is worth it mainly if you want to combine LEGOLAND, the water park and Peppa Pig, or if a long drive home would be rough on little kids. The resort has three themed hotels at the gates.
How much are LEGOLAND Florida tickets?
Prices change with the season and the type of ticket, so check the official LEGOLAND Florida site for current pricing. Buying online ahead of time is almost always cheaper than at the gate, and multi-park or combo tickets that add the water park or Peppa Pig are usually the best value if you plan to do more than the main theme park.
