Disney's Hollywood Studios
The Walt Disney World park where you fly the Millennium Falcon, plunge thirteen stories in a haunted hotel and step inside a cartoon — a compact, ride-heavy day that punches well above its size.
Updated June 2026
Of the four Walt Disney World parks, Hollywood Studios is the one that grew up. What started as a working studio backlot is now the most thrill-forward park on property, built around two of the best lands Disney has ever made: Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge and Toy Story Land. It is smaller than Magic Kingdom or EPCOT, which is exactly the point — almost everything here is a headliner, and you can do the whole park in a single well-planned day.
It suits big kids, thrill-seekers, Star Wars fans and anyone who likes their day packed with rides rather than spread across acres of walking. Families with little ones do beautifully too, between Toy Story Land and the gentle Mickey cartoon ride. Pair it with Animal Kingdom next door for a two-day southern-parks combo, or treat it as the high-energy counterpoint to a classic Magic Kingdom day.
What to ride & see
A short list with no filler — these are the attractions worth building your day around.
A perfect day
One efficient loop that hits the heavy hitters before the crowds catch up.
- Arrive before the official open and head straight for Slinky Dog Dash or Rise of the Resistance — whichever you didn't lock down with Lightning Lane.
- Knock out the rest of Toy Story Land early, then drift to Sunset Boulevard for Tower of Terror and the new Muppets coaster before midday heat.
- Settle into a cool, sit-down show — Indiana Jones or Beauty and the Beast — through the hottest part of the afternoon.
- Slow-walk Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, fly the Millennium Falcon, and grab blue milk and a bite at Docking Bay 7.
- Ride Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway as the park empties, then claim a spot for Fantasmic to close the night.

Common questions
What are the best rides at Disney's Hollywood Studios?
The headliners are Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run in Galaxy's Edge, Slinky Dog Dash in Toy Story Land, the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and the rethemed Rock 'n' Roller Coaster on Sunset Boulevard, and Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway on Hollywood Boulevard. Rise of the Resistance is widely considered the best ride at any Disney park.
How long do I need at Hollywood Studios?
One full day is enough to hit the major rides and an evening show, since the park is compact and ride-focused. Arriving before official opening and using Lightning Lane makes a single day comfortable. If you want to take Galaxy's Edge slowly or repeat favorites, two days never hurts.
Do I need Lightning Lane at Hollywood Studios?
It's the most worthwhile park on property for it, because wait times run consistently high. A Lightning Lane Multi Pass covers most attractions, while the top headliner usually needs a separate Single Pass. Names, tiers and pricing change often, so check the official Walt Disney World site for current details before your trip.
Is Hollywood Studios good for young kids?
Yes. Toy Story Land's Slinky Dog Dash is a family coaster gentle enough for many younger riders, and Toy Story Mania and Alien Swirling Saucers are tamer still. Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway is a low-thrill cartoon ride the whole family can enjoy together, and the live shows give little legs a rest.
Did Rock 'n' Roller Coaster reopen with the Muppets?
Yes. The longstanding Aerosmith coaster was rethemed and reopened in May 2026 as Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, following the Electric Mayhem band on Sunset Boulevard. The ride layout is the same high-speed indoor coaster, just with a new Muppets story.
What is the nighttime show at Hollywood Studios?
Fantasmic is the park's nighttime spectacular, staged in the open-air Hollywood Hills Amphitheater at the end of Sunset Boulevard with water, fire, fireworks and projections following Mickey's imagination. Show times vary by season and it isn't offered every night, so confirm the schedule in the My Disney Experience app and arrive early for a seat.
